    Fortune/Williams music festival in Staunton!

Okay, I guess I had to have motivation in order to update my xanga site. And now I do. We went to the music festival in Staunton today and saw some really great musicians.  My favorite (the best in my opinion;) was Trent Wagler and the Steel Wheels. They are an amazing bluegrass group of four.

The first set they did (they did three sets, meaning three different shows that day.).

This is Robin and Linda Williams (the ones in the middle) and their band. They were the main atraction.  They've been around a while, and played on Prairie Home Companion many times. Also, Jay's played with them!

Here's Trent Wagler again at the second set. This barn that they're playing in is an eight sided barn at the Frontier Culture Museum (where the festival was).

I was very envious of Jay Lapp's (the one on the right) mandolin. It's gorgeous...and it had an amazing sound.
There were two other artists also but didn't get pictures of them. One of them was Jimmy Fortune, a member of the older group The Statler Brothers. My parents used to listen to them "back in the day"  ;)  ......It was a great day. I mean I got to listen to my favorite kind of music all day. Very fun.  Hope you enjoy the pics and I hope to upload a video soon so ya'll can actually see how good they are.

    Time......

Okay, so I've got another vocal competition this coming Friday. There are ten contestants, six of which are instrumentalists and four vocalists. It's being held at the Prizery theatre, an awesome remodeled tabaco factory, ( I know, it's hard to picture a theater in a tabaco factory, but this thing is state of the art!) in South Boston at 7:00pm. So feel free to come! ;) That's the majority of what's happening right now. But also finding time to ride, practice my piano and pursue other interests such as Gaelic. And one of my goats, Portia, is due any day now to have her kids. So! It's keeping me busy.....
